Cherishing the Presence of our God

Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said, “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?”
But Jesus said, “Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial. For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”John 12:3-8

Church,
It is amazing to see the heart of Mary, who took her greatest possession and laid it at the feet of God. After Judas complains, Jesus stated that she had been keeping this jar for the day that Jesus would be buried. Yet in that moment, Mary was overcome with wanting to worship her God. She took that jar and poured it at the feet of her God in an intimate act of worship.

Jesus knew that He would be leaving soon. He also knew that He would not stay far away but that His Holy Spirit would return to lead people back to the Father.

Let us have the heart of Mary. Cherishing the presence of our God and laying our hearts out in worship. He is a King who gave His life for us, let us worship the King of Kings as He deserves.

Amen,
Kris
