Working for God’s House

Word of the Week

They would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they had to guard it; and they had charge of the key for opening it each morning.
Some of them were in charge of the articles used in the temple service; they counted them when they were brought in and when they were taken out. Others were assigned to take care of the furnishings and all the other articles of the sanctuary, as well as the special flour and wine, and the olive oil, incense and spices.1 Chronicles 9:27-29
Church,

Reading this you can see how busy the tent of David must have been. There were many jobs to be completed each day and David delegated each of these responsibilities out to see that they were completed properly. Regardless of the job, you can see the care and honor that each person took in the completion of their duties. Whether they were counting articles or guarding the gate, each person knew that their efforts were an offering unto God.

What responsibility has God tasked you with to uphold His household? Has he called you to pray or guard the gate or establish His worship? God has tasked each one of us with responsibilities within His household. Each one functions to keep His house holy and running properly. Although some are physical jobs many are spiritual jobs that make a major impact in His kingdom.

Let us take the same care as those in David’s tent. In whatever God calls from us may we do it in honor and with diligence knowing that our hearts are an offering to our God.

Amen,

Kris
