Now Joab fought against Rabbah of the people of Ammon, and took the royal city. And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, “I have fought against Rabbah, and I have taken the city’s water supply. 28 Now therefore, gather the rest of the people together and encamp against the city and take it, lest I take the city and it be called after my name.”2 Samuel 12:26-28

Church,

Joab was King David’s nephew and captain of his armies. He went out and fought a battle and won a great victory on behalf of the Jewish nation. When I read this I was immediately struck by the faithfulness of Joab. He knew that God had truly won the battle and the glory was not his own. He sent for David to come and finish the battle so that Joab would not receive the glory that day.

We too must remember where the glory belongs. God has done a miraculous work in our lives. He fought for us and won, and he deserves all of the glory! I pray that we would be able to speak of the wonder working power of our God and that His name would receive glory for the battle He has won. I pray that people would look at our lives and it would bring praise to our God for He is a mighty warrior who has been victorious in our lives!

Let us praise God and bring glory to His name for He has won us and our lives stand as a testament to his power.

Amen,
Kris
