Our Right in the Gospel

But we did not use this right. On the contrary, we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ. 1 Corinthians 9:12

Church,
Paul here was speaking about the different rights that should be afforded to a preacher of the Gospel. Paul said he had the right to collect a salary, he has a right to eat, he has the right to a family. Yet even though he may have a right to all those things, he has given up any and all rights so that the Gospel may go forth unhindered.

Paul’s heart was not concerned for himself, his heart was to see hearts turned back to their heavenly father. Where is the desire of our hearts? Is it to secure our own rights and desires? Or is our hearts desire to see God’s kingdom advance even above our own kingdoms?

Let us be united with transformed hearts, advancing the kingdom of God. Let us not forget the saving Grace of God but let us move in thanksgiving, proclaiming the goodness of God to the lost and weary.

Amen,
Kris
