Living as Those Made Alive in Christ
"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

Hello and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. We're just a few days out from Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays as it's a time to reflect on who God is, what He's done and really that time of thankfulness with Him. It's a time where we gather with our families and of course lots of food.

"Do we get caught up with the rest of the world, overtaken by the intensity of the holiday season OR do we follow the Word of God?"
But when we think about Thanksgiving as we come closer, what begins to happen in our culture?  It's really the beginning of the Holiday Seasons and it's a time where we travel and have time with family and all that stuff.  But what else begins to occur? The stress levels begin to rise. People are thinking 'I have to get to the store for that gift', 'I have to make sure I get this deal' or worrying about cooking and cleaning and all those things. So what do we do as Christians? Do we get caught up with the rest of the world, overtaken by the intensity of the holiday season OR do we follow the Word of God?

"Jesus is the reason for the season."
It says in Colossians chapter 3 verses 1 and 2 "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." As we begin the holiday season, we may we never forget that Jesus is the reason for the season. Yes, we are going to be celebrating and doing all these different things, but let our minds, at every moment, be set on things above - set upon Christ.

"Let our minds, at every moment, be set on things above - set upon Christ."
As we're eating, may we be thinking of the fact that Christ has been the one that has provided us our meal. As we're enjoying the family and friends may we just continue to set our minds, knowing, that Jesus in His grace and His mercy and what He did at the cross has allowed us even now to be with our family and friends. Out of all of it, may we keep our mind fixed not on earthly things, but on the Kingdom of God! The Kingdom of God that has been brought through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus, I am thankful this season that you are the reason we are here. Praise you Lord! As we come into the holiday times, as we come into the holiday season, may we never forget who you are and what you have done in our lives. Lord you are worthy! May we continue to set our minds on things above, not on earthly things, but on the Lord Jesus himself. Amen and Amen.
