Matthew 28:18-20
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 4:19
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

Hi! Pastor Bob, here. Welcome back to the Men of Valor podcast. The verse from today is from Matthew chapter 28, and it says: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Recently, two men were fishing in their boat very close to L.B.I. All of a sudden, a humpback whale crashed their boat and set them and their boat flying. The fishermen were thrown in the water and were fine, and eventually got themselves and their boat to the shore. While viewing the photo of the boat resting on the beach, I noticed the name of the boat was the same name of my boat that I owned about 15 years ago. I was really surprised because that was a very unusual name; I never saw another boat over all these years with the same name.

"You always had an impure heart, mixing me with the things of the world...and they became your god"
I sent the picture to our children and received a quick response: “Dad, did you notice that the boat also had the same picture you had designed and had on your boat?” Oh my gosh! I didn't even notice that! The next day during prayer, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “You see how that whale threw those men off their boat? That is how I spiritually threw you off yours because that was always your identity and your god. You always had an impure heart, mixing me with the things of the world, like boating and fishing, and they became your god.”

"“Follow me, and I will send you out to fish for men.”"
Pastor Kris in his last message said, “Everyone is mastered by something if it is not God.” Mine truly was not God. Then, I heard Matthew 28: “Go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” And then, another verse came into my mind, which is Matthew 4:19! Jesus said, “Follow me, and I will send you out to fish for men.”

What an amazing God we serve that He would give us the privilege to participate in the great commission, and learn to serve Him and others! I imagine facing the Lord and hear Him saying, “Show me what you did with your life,” and I show Him a picture of the boat and the big fish I caught. Remember, we are all going to show Him pictures of the things that mastered us in our lives if it was not the Lord Jesus Christ.

How does anything in this world compare to having been discipled to get to know Him? How does anything in this world compare to the privilege to help disciple generations that follow Christ and are snatched from the kingdom of Satan and brought into the kingdom of righteousness?

"I needed a lifesaver thrown to me. And thankfully, He threw me one: Jesus Christ."
Obviously, there is no comparison on judgment day, but there is also no comparison to walking with the Lord during our time on earth! In reflection, I can't thank the Lord enough for throwing me overboard and rescuing me from the god of my life, which was definitely pleasing myself. Truly, by his grace, it was a time when I saw I needed a lifesaver thrown to me. And thankfully, He threw me one: Jesus Christ. And He continues to answer my call daily and the call of anyone that cries out, “Help me! I need a savior! I'm drowning in my sin and cannot breathe! Help me, throw me the lifeline of Jesus Christ!” Truly, Jesus Christ has the only breath and the only kiss that will save each one of us from hell and ourselves.

Lord, thank you for rocking our boat in the world at times so we can just see how much we need you. Thank you for your salvation that you made possible through your cross, your resurrection, and the gift of repentance to us. Truly, only your blood can save us from us drowning in our sins. What an amazing God we serve.
