Ecclesiastes 10:2-3
The heart of the wise inclines to the right,
but the heart of the fool to the left...

Hi, Pastor Bob here. Welcome back to the Men of Valor and Daily Living podcast. The verse for today is from Ecclesiastes chapter 10, verses 2 and 3. And they state, “The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left. Even as fools walk along the road, they lack sense and show everyone how stupid they are.”

"Unfortunately, many people spend their entire life…[chasing] money, fame, jobs, toys, comfort, six or seven days a week."
If you've been driving for even a short time, you probably have had the experience of turning a corner, and there, right in the middle of the road, there's a squirrel. And at this point, you or your passenger in the car is yelling, ‘Move! Move! Get out of the way! I'm gonna hit ya!’ And then you can almost see panic in the squirrels eyes as they usually dart right, then left, and then sometimes, they actually come back - right where they started in the middle of the road - and bang! Their life is over. Their life is gone in a second, just like a vapor.

"His side of the road gives you the shelter of eternal protection under His wings."
Unfortunately, many people spend their entire life doing pretty much exactly the same thing. They chase money, fame, jobs, toys, comfort, six or seven days a week on the left worldly side of the road. Then when Sunday comes, they go to church and they try to serve God for a while on the right Godly side of the road. And then they return back to serving the other things money can buy on the worldly side, and they get confused. And unfortunately, they stop in the middle of the road - where they spent most of their life - and bang! They also are gone like a vapor.

Matthew 6, verse 24 says, “‘No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to [the] one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.’” In Deuteronomy, God says, “‘I am a jealous God.”’ And in Exodus 34, He says, ‘My name is jealous.’ He doesn't sound like living a life in the middle of the road and splitting your desires between Him and the worldly things life has to offer is something He accepts does it? If you're thinking, ‘Yeah, but that's the God of the Old Testament, because Jesus in the New Testament is all about love,’ just read the book of Revelation. I will guarantee you that you will change your opinion. He definitely is love, but God has many other attributes besides love. In Revelation 3:15, Jesus says, “‘I know your deeds, that you are neither [hot] nor [cold]. I wish that you were either [hot or cold]! I wish that you were [either] one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm,”’ - living in the middle of the road - “‘I'm about to spit you out of My mouth. You say, “[I'm] rich; I have acquired wealth and [I don't] need a thing.”’” We need to desire God - Him and Him alone. We need to be sold out to Him, love Him, and serve Him. His side of the road gives you the shelter of eternal protection under His wings.

In this podcast, I made the comparison of a squirrel being in the middle of the road, and a human, living their life in the middle of the road. However, there’s a huge difference: When the animal dies, it is dead permanently. When the human dies, he changes locations - and he comes face to face with the Almighty God, his Creator, who also has the attributes of being a just God. And He will justly send you to hell for chasing and serving a different god, or He will justly welcome you into His Kingdom with a banquet with His family for eternity in heaven.

So whenever you see the road sign, ‘Dangerous Curve Ahead,’ or, ‘Deer Crossing Ahead,’ think of the warning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in John 14:6, that says, “... ‘I am the way the truth and the life. [And] no one comes to the Father except through Me.’” God bless you all.
