Hi everyone! It's Tania and welcome to the Moms for Christ podcast. The Word that I have today comes from the book of Isaiah chapter 48 verse 17 and it says, “This is what the Lord says- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go…’”

The Lord is really hitting this point home for me and my family. He wants to be the one to direct us in the way that we should go because He knows what's best for us.

“how silly it would be for me to think that I knew what was best when I have been created for the Lord and I'm not the creator.”
This is such a simple Word but I see in my life how I've moved in a way that I thought was best and how silly it would be for me to think that I knew what was best when I have been created for the Lord and I'm not the creator.

The other day, I was making dinner and I was making several things at once. In one pan, I was mixing staffing, in another bowl, I added all of my dry ingredients to make bread. One of my children walked in and asked to help. (Of course, I welcomed the help). I told her to finish up the bread, that all of the dry ingredients were in the bowl, and she just had to add 2 eggs and 1 cup of milk. She looked at me and said, “Mom, you're making stuffing.” I told her, “I know but I want you to add milk and eggs to the bowl.” I continued cooking and when I turned around, my helper was adding eggs to the stuffing. Without actually listening to my direction, she assumed she knew what I wanted. We had to stop, go back, go over the directions again, and talk about where we had missed it, where the miscommunication had come. And after that, we were able to just continue to go on and cook.

“The Lord wants to show us the way and He wants to teach us what's best so that He can direct us in the way that we should go...”
And sometimes we have to do that with the Lord. The Lord wants to show us the way and He wants to teach us what's best so that He can direct us in the way that we should go and all throughout the Bible, the Lord tells us this. We see it over and over again. In this verse, the Lord is speaking to the Israelites, who have been a stubborn people doing what the Babylonians did but the Lord desires to lead His people and the way that is best for them so that it will go well for them. He tells them of the blessings they would have received if only they had paid attention to His commands.

As a parent, I think how silly it would be if I just started letting my kids make their own decisions for their life and everything, every choice, was theirs to make. It would be crazy because the Lord has assigned parents to train their children and lead them in the way that they should go. So that whether we are there or not, they follow all that we've taught them. By doing this, they will not only stay safe but it allows them to prosper.

I'm not God but He knows what's best for them, just like He knows what's best for us. He is our Father and He wants to be a part of our lives, every day leading us and guiding us every step of the way.

“Lord please open our ears so that as You are teaching, we hear Your direction and we move in the way You desire for us to go.”
Lord, thank You for Your Word. Thank You for being our redeemer. Thank You for Your love and desire to lead us every step of the way, so that we may prosper in You. And Lord, please forgive us for the times that we thought that we knew better. Lord please open our ears so that as You are teaching, we hear Your direction and we move in the way You desire for us to go. Please forgive us for the times that we thought that we knew better only to end up with eggs in our stuffing. Please teach us how to follow You so that every promise You have for the obedient would be ours, amen. God bless and have a wonderful week, I will speak to you again soon.
