Word of the Week

Genesis 1:28 – Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to obey all things that I have commanded you…

Church,

I wanted to recap a point from my sermon from last week for this week’s word.

These 2 verses are essentially the same verse at different time periods. The first was a blessing that was poured out onto Adam. God blessed him, which was a powerful thing, to go out and spread that blessing. He told him to take that it and allow it to multiple after itself over and over again.

The second verse is Jesus speaking to His disciples. He starts by saying all authority has been given unto Me. Jesus here is explaining that the same breath of God, spoken upon Adam, is living and active inside of Him. We too have access to that same blessing through the Lord Jesus Christ. Through His Spirit we are not subject to sin but live above it and rule over it as it was intended to be from the beginning.

In both verses, God commands us to go forth and multiply. Multiply the blessing and Spirit of God out into the world. That Spirit does not live subjected to sin but rules over it as a king rules over his subjects.

I pray today that the Word of God would be bearing fruit in your lives. That it would be multiplying outside of yourself into your family and friends. I pray that the Spirit of God would be dominating and subduing not only your sinful nature but the rulers and principalities of this world.

I am looking forward to seeing the people of God empowered by the Spirit tomorrow.

See you then!
