Psalm 145:1
I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever.

Hi, Pastor Bob here. Welcome back to the Men of Valor podcast. The verse for today is from the book of Psalms chapter 145 verse 1 and it states, “I will exalt my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever.”

Let’s go back to the year 1997 and what if I told you I had a part in this new movie...it's called the Titanic and you gotta come see me in this movie. I mean, I must humbly say my part may become one of those most famous scenes in this picture.

So we all go see it, and all my friends are like, “Where's the scenes? Where are you?” And I keep saying, “It's coming up! It's coming up soon! Get ready!” And when the movie starts to show all the people drowning in the water, I shout out, “There I am! There I am! I’m that guy beside the floating board with my head bobbing up and down in the water! That’s me! Amazing acting isn't it?”

Immediately, all my friends start shouting, “You are so arrogant! What a narcissistic, self-absorbed guy you are! This movie isn't about you at all! It's about this huge ship that's sinking!”

“Really? I guess I just got so enthralled with seeing me in that part of the movie, that I thought it was. Wow, that's all I focused on. I thought I looked great in my part.”

That sounds ridiculous doesn't it?

Yet nowadays, when people visit the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, go to the beach and see a beautiful sunrise or the mountains and see a beautiful sunset, what's foremost in their picture? It's their selfie. Why? Because to that person, it really is about them. The photo just happens to have an incredible background that God created. Isn’t that like getting a glimpse of how immense the universe is? I just read scientists think there are over 300 billion more galaxies which shows God is so much larger than we can even comprehend and we constantly think our life here on this tiny planet in this tiny town, in this tiny house, in my tiny job or tiny school is really about me and not God who made me and everything else in this entire universe.

Revelation 4:11 says, “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive all glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” And Psalms 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the skies proclaim the works of his hands.”

“It's all about Him, it's not about us.”
It's all about Him, it's not about us. How many times have we read the Bible, grasped somewhat of the magnificence of God's Word from the book of Genesis to Revelation, closed the book and thought it was about our life, our heart, our feelings, our family, our wants, our needs, instead of about how the purpose of our life should be to exalt the glory of God and His love?

“Our purpose is to exalt Father God, not exalt ourselves.”
Our lives should show the world how much we love our Father God. Our purpose is to exalt Father God, not exalt ourselves. 1 Corinthians 10:31 states, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Psalms 86:12 says, “I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; and I will glorify your name forever.” Psalms 118:28-29 says, “You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; and his love endures forever.”

What daily advice does Paul give us in 2 Peter chapter 3 verse 18 to manifest all of this? “...Grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!”

Spend time with Him, learn His Word, obey Him and become discipled to become a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ and give God the glory He deserves everyday.

Father, thank You for continuing to open our eyes and hearts to see Your magnificence in everything. That all of our words and all of our actions everyday give You glory and honor. What an amazing God we serve. God bless you all.
