Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things
Hi Pastor Bob here. Welcome back to the Men of Valor and Daily Living podcast. The verse for today is from the book of Psalms chapter 107 verses 8 and 9 and it states, “Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”
“How many things do people hunger for besides God?”Have you ever been so hungry or thirsty that as soon as you get your hands on that food or drink that you've been desiring, it quickly disappears in your mouth? Have you ever been so hungry that you start eating and when you're halfway done with your food, your child or someone else goes, “Hey! We didn’t say grace and ask God to bless the food!” Oh, in cases like that, who's our god? Is it the stomach or the one true Heavenly Father that gives us all gifts?
“Do you ever have that hunger and thirst for the Lord but you just can't get enough of Him?”How many things do people hunger for besides God? Or more than God? Just jobs, money, kids, sports, et cetera? The world's full of things but what are all these things worth in comparison to the love and wondrous deeds the Lord has done for you? As it says in Ecclesiastes, absolutely nothing. In terms of salvation, they are all meaningless.
Do you ever have that hunger and thirst for the Lord but you just can't get enough of Him? You've tasted and you saw that He is good and that causes you to desire more and more of Him? If you're thinking, ‘No, I really have not.’ I pray that you will get that desire, for His Word says, “If you seek Him, you will find Him.” What an amazing God we serve. God bless you all.
