The Value of Knowing God

But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.Philippians 3:7-8
Church,

Do we truly understand the worth of the salvation that we have received?

To know the value of this calling means that the things of the world are all compared to our knowledge of God. When Paul looked at this world in the light of the knowledge of God he literally called it “garbage”. He knew what he had gained in Christ and considered everything else a loss.

We too need to look at this world in the light of the salvation we have gained.

What sin is worth holding onto when compared to the greatness and power of knowing God?

What worldly right can we attempt to claim when Christ gave up all His rights on the cross so that we could know Him?

What tangible possession could be called valuable when compared to the relationship we can have with the God who created the universe?

There is no greater thing in this world than knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Everything else in the world pales in comparison to the greatness of God. May we be the ones that walk this earth calling ourselves the most rich because we know the value of what we have received.

In Christ,

Kris
