And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
This verse is used pretty regularly in the church. It speaks about raising us up with Christ and seating us in the heavenly realms with Him. But what was the purpose of doing this?
We like to think that it was just for us. But this verse tells us that the whole reason we have been raised up was to display to the rest of the world the incomparable riches of God. This “coming age” is one filled with rebellion against God. We, however, were called to be a display of what a child of Christ looks like.
Our lives and walk should reflect the riches of Gods grace. It should be overflowing with thanksgiving from the kindness we have received in Christ Jesus. Where all of the world follows its own ways, our lives should be a reflection of the obedience and goodness of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We have been seated with Christ in the heavenly realms. Not for ourselves but to be a display to the world. Let the world look into our lives, see the power of God and turn from their ways to follow the living King!
