After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
This is a day that we remember the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us. I think about how He willingly allowed Himself to be led to His death. What could cause a man to allow such a thing to happen?
Jesus Christ knew that He was going to make the way into heaven. He knew the many sons and daughters that would follow that way into eternal life. “For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross, scorning its shame…” We are the joy of Jesus Christ.
He allowed Himself to be led to the cross and endured a criminal’s death for me and for you. Thank you Lord that you went willingly for me, you endured for me and you made the way for me.
Thank you Lord Jesus for your sacrifice!
