A Dwelling Place for God

“Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, Or go up to the comfort of my bed;
I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, until I find a place for the LORD,
A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.” Psalm 132:3-5

Church,

David’s heart was to build a place for the Spirit of God to dwell in. Although God had reserved this mission for his son, David’s heart was still burdened that he lived in a grand palace while God had nowhere to dwell.

I pray that our hearts would be burdened in the same way. Instead of looking to build God a physical place, I pray our hearts would be burdened to prepare a place in our hearts for the Spirit of God. David knew the blessings He had received while God could not find a place to rest. I pray out of thanksgiving we would begin to work and prepare our hearts so that the God of Heaven would have a place to rest and be worshiped.
